Ahhh August is always a little bumpy for me. Adjusting to the new school year brings on a lot of change which means anxiety and stress for me. I have a new caseload of students this year and as opposed to years in the past where I've had the same kids for several years in a row it means a lot more work as I try to figure out each kid and what makes them most successful. This is all normal though for me as well as other new teachers; the new worry is how I complete lesson plans and prepare for the day, plan with teachers, and meet our sitter to drop off/pick up my son - all before and after the school day. Our sitter just happens to be my mother-in-law, however, I am eager to get home and be a mom as well as relieve my mother-n-law (even though I know she wouldn't mind keeping him later because she is absolutely wonderful!). It pains me to leave before he wakes up and only get an hour with him before he goes to bed. I guess that's the battle every working mom has isn't it? I know once I develop a routine some of the stress will be eased. How do wonder does this pertain to health? I need to relax because stress plays a huge factor in weight loss. So, tonight I decided to go for a long walk with the dogs and my son. Make sure you are always taking a little time to do something for yourself!
