Chronic Pain

Thousands of people across the country struggle with chronic pain daily. Whether it is neck pain, back pain, arthritis in the knees, shoulder injuries, the list goes on and on. People want, need, and are seeking relief daily. It is important for physicians to realize this and work together for the betterment of the patient.

In a study by Breuer, Cruciani, and& Portenoy (2010), it was found that the majority of chronic pain patients are seen by primary care physicians and chiropractors. Pain management specialists were next in line in the portal of care followed by most patients.

It is important that all primary care physicians, chiropractors, and pain management specialists have healthy practice relationships and open lines of communications when dealing with these patients. If you or someone you know struggles with chronic pain issues find trusted physicians in your area who are willing to work together for your overall well being. This can be a crucial factor in your success in living the pain free lifestyle you deserve.

It's been my experience that doctors won't refer you to other doctors when you're not satisfied because they feel they sent you to the best in the field for your area.  The best told me to swim to combat my chronic pain.  Never mind the fact that I don't have access to a pool because even if I did, I've taken swimming lessons twice and failed.  I guess he thinks drowning will solve my problems?
